NUJAZZ ASIA was founded over 10 years ago by Australian saxophonist Nicole Duffell. With her extensive career in live music and experience managing jazz clubs, Nicole brings a unique set of skills to curate and program exceptional jazz events.

 

ABOUT NICOLE

Nicole was classically trained from an early age on clarinet and saxophone. After graduating from the West Australian Conservatorium of music, majoring in jazz, Nicole started her professional career with Blues and R&B bands developing her sound and dexterity on the tenor saxophone. Tours with R&B bands continued internationally but Nicole began to call Singapore home since 2002 eventually focusing more on jazz.

 

Almost fifteen years ago Nicole started a long jazz residency at well-known whisky venue B28, eventually taking over and running the venue as a jazz club, fondly known by locals as the “jazz institute” until 2018.​

Nicole's career was interrupted 18 months ago after emergency brain surgery left her with severe Hyperacusis. While she hopes to return to performing one day, she is currently dedicated to supporting the exceptional musical talent she's encountered during her years in Singapore.

Nujazz Asia was founded while Nicole was managing the jazz venue B28, where she saw a need for a space that genuinely supports talented, hardworking instrumentalists, free from clichéd background gigs. The venue often featured international acts alongside local musicians, fostering inspiration and development for younger artists. Young musicians were always given opportunities to sit in with professional groups.

Nujazz Asia specializes in local artist management, representing a curated group of passionate, skilled, and soulful musicians dedicated to the authenticity of their craft. We partner with venues, festivals, and event organizers to produce professional, high quality jazz experiences that showcase top-tier talent, while also nurturing the growth of emerging artists. Our services include tailored jazz programming and strategic marketing designed to connect with your target audience.

 

Since then, Nujazz has continued to program events for prominent local venues and collaborates with jazz festivals, event companies, and community cultural programs. Nujazz also provides marketing support and partners with F&B companies for special events.

The musicians in our network are not all exclusive to us, we are a portal to engage a broad spectrum of talent and our wish is to create opportunities for musicians, foster positive working relationships with the artists and contribute unique, artful music experiences to the local scene here in Singapore.
